Guys calling girls?

So right now I'm dating this guy who has never been in a relationship before until me (he's 19, we're the same age). We have been friends for a little over a year and decided about a month ago now to try it romantically. As of three months ago, I got out of a very serious 2 year relationship with an old, lazy, AND boring 26 year old. ha. Things have been GREAT so far with the new guy. We see each other about once, sometimes twice, a week (definitely quality versus quantity). It confuses me though that we don't talk on the phone everyday. I'm not going to push for that because that is not something I need, or even want. My intuition tells me what we have is good, but the fact that we do not talk everyday or keep close tabs on the whereabouts of other person confuses me. Maybe I'm just not use to the early stages of dating or maybe he's not really as interested in me as I think he is. Anyways, I'm babbling... what is the general consensus about this?
