Where do young professionals live in Indianapolis, IN?

My boyfriend may be moving to Indianapolis, where is a good place to look for apartments? From what I've read, I'd like to stay away from Broad Ripple since it seems like more of a college area. Does anyone have any suggestions of areas maybe with a little bit of nightlife/bars/restaurants?
