I had my wisdom teeth removed 9 days ago. Can I wear my retainer yet or will it cause an infection?

I had three of my wisdom teeth pulled and one was surgically removed. I feel like my teeth are shifting after 9 days. Is it okay to wear my retainer? I don't want a bacterial infection to happen. Any ideas about what I should do?
