I don't know, maybe he's a sensitive pr*ck. You said "Um, hi" instead of "hey" which would definitely lower his ego. It made it sound like you didn't want him to text you. So he was probably being defensive. The dude's weird and he doesn't think your ugly. He's not worth your time.
