My dwarf hamster bit me as i was putting her food dish into her cage?

i recoiled my hand and she hung onto my hand then she dropped to the floor,my tenant picked her up and put her back in the cage,she stood there motionless,then went up into the tubing and stood there,after a minute or so went and sat down,i wasnt too attached to her,how could i if shes always nipping at my fingers,so t let her go.i took her out in the yard and let her go into the hemlock trees.hamsters are burrowing rodents,if danger treatens,they dig a hole and hide.i feel like a jerk but hey,if i cant go near this pit bullish rodent,whats the use in having her as a pet.im not a meanie,buti like to have a pet that doesnt look at you as if you were a meal for them.
